Hello, fellow boaters and Alaskans.
Please be aware that there are a great number of black bears living in Whittier. The black bears are
out and about again. Do not leave out shrimp bait, bait in general, herring oil and any other food items on the dock or on your boat. You must store any of those above mentioned items in a hard sided
container or completely remove them from your vessel. Bears don't like the smell of anything pine. Spray down your deck with a 1/1 solution of Pine Sol and water. You can also use Lysol. When you are
using the marina dumpsters, you must put your garbage ALL THE WAY INSIDE the container and COMPLETELY CLOSE AND LOCK the lid.
